What inspires you?

The quote “Have a positive expectancy of good”. I have this quote written on my chalkboard in my kitchen as a constant reminder to myself. Don’t think negative, expect the best! God is good & he will always bless us over and above all we can ask or think!

What are you learning in this season of life?

One of my favorite phrases for many years has been “Enjoy the Journey.” In every season of my life that means, take one day at a time, be present in this moment & with the people your with. Don’t worry about tomorrow, enjoy all the gifts God is giving you today and appreciate the roses along the way.

What are you currently reading/watching/listening to?

I’m currently reading a great book called “The Supernatural Ways of Royalty” by Kris Vallotton & Bill Johnson. Its about who you are “in Christ being a son/daughter of God”. My daily devotional right now is Jesus Calling by Sarah Young and the Bible. My favorites playlist is mostly Hillsong, Kari Jobe, Bethel, Elevation Worship & Bellarive.

What’s your current favorite beauty product?

I have used Mary Kay for almost 20 years! I have to have it lol. Cleansers, Moisturizer, Day Solution, Foundation, Eye make-up, I use it all Haha! I love the Face and Lash Primer’s too.

What cause or community initiative do you support? What do you love about it?

Life Choices of Course, because God uses us to be the voice for the unborn that can’t yet speak. I have often said if I did not serve here I wouldn’t have known to pray for that young woman or intercede for that baby today.

Describe your perfect day?

A perfect day would be a relaxing, laughter filled day on a beautiful beach surrounded by my family.

What’s one of your favorite family memories?

It’s too hard to think of just one. But in general it would be our road trips & family vacations.

What is something you enjoy doing with your mom/daughter?

Just spending time with them. Whether it’s shopping, traveling or just sitting on the couch talking. I enjoy their different personalities. They make me laugh and they make me think.

Mom- how do you see yourself in your daughter?

Ha, we are really all introverts, so I totally relate to them in that way, we understand each other lol. They are definitely their own persons with their own opinions but we all share a love for God, serving him first and then a fierce devotion to family. And I think I might have had a little influence on their love for travel too. 🙂

  • Occupation: Middle School Teacher
  • Hometown: West Monroe
  • Current city: West Monroe
  • Family/Kids: I’ve been married to my husband Ty for 6 years, and we have soon to be 2 and 5 year old little boys!
  • Pets: A Border Collie/Cocker Spaniel pound puppy named Avey. She’s my only girl and my first baby:) as well as a matching Tuxedo cat named Sylvester.
  • Any other information (Education/Volunteer/Creative Hobbies): I am a graduate of Louisiana Tech University and teach English, but my first love is history! I also volunteer with Christ Church Student Ministries, and accompany my husband who is the College/Young Adult Pastor at Christ Church.
  • Any blog, book, creative endeavor, etc. you’d like to share: I tweet, facebook, snapchat, and instagram like it’s my job…but it is definitely not. Millennial at it’s finest!

What inspires you?

People who blaze their own trails. Those who are passionate about doing things no one like them has done. Reading about powerful women in history who made things better for those who would follow…even if they did not seem “powerful” in the traditional sense of the word. Powerful in spirit. Powerful in motivation. Powerful in purpose.

Who is your hero?

My mom. Every new season in life I encounter, I become more amazed at the grace and willpower that my mother handled them with when she endured them. In motherhood, in marriage, in friendships, in work, in church…. She has always taught me by example how a God-fearing woman should function. Even when she may not always “know”…I still run to her for the best advice (and pray), because Mom always knows what to do!

What are you learning in this season of life?

I am learning how to have grace and humility. I am learning that even when I don’t see the necessity in bestowing grace (because my mind works so logically – if so and so was stupid enough to do such and such, they deserve this!), it will never ever ever hurt you to give it. In fact, when you allow God’s grace into your heart and mind, your entire disposition changes. It’s amazing. Also, I am currently walking through a season of life in which I am being humbled. Of course I am not always enjoying it, but it is necessary to equip me for the next adventure God must have planned for me. Come to find out, I am not the boss, not the author of all things great, and not perfect – That’s God’s job. Who knew?! 😉

What are you currently reading/watching/listening to?

I just finished “Without Rival” by Lisa Bevere and just began “The Best Yes” by Lysa TerKeurst. I also love The History Chicks podcast as well as Youth Ministry Answers. As far as listening and watching goes…that list is endless!! I’m a Spotify/Netflix junky!

What’s your current favorite beauty product?

I’m definitely a tomboy…so “beauty product” might be a stretch…but I’m currently enjoying bath bombs from Lush and Covergirl Outlast finger nail polish (in Mutant Blue!) Also…I could not live life without my Wet Brush. If you have long or thick hair ( I have both)…a Wet Brush will change your life.

What cause or community initiative do you support? What do you love about it?

I am a youth leader at in the Jhigh of Christ Church students… I am definitely an advocate for junior high students having a place to grow their relationship with God and other students their age. Middle school is such an important age in which kids are trying to figure out who they are…We want them to find their identity in CHRIST!

I also support The Table, the college ministry at Christ Church (my husband is the pastor). I knew so many people when we graduated high school that felt like since they didn’t belong in the youth group, they had no where else to go…that’s where The Table comes in. The Table is an amazing group of young adults who keep each other accountable and champion each other in following God’s purpose for their lives. This ministry is an amazing launching pad into adulthood.

Describe your perfect day?

My perfect day would be spent in the summer (no work, holla!) on the beach (somewhere along 30-A)! I could spend the morning-lunch down on the beach alone (this introvert loves her me time), then spend the rest of the day playing with my boys (children and husband), and hanging out with my siblings (in laws included). Beach + family = life.

LL3

What’s one of your favorite family memories?

I HAVE SO MANY! My family is the actual best. Any time we went to Disney World as a teenager. Also when we first took our oldest son to Disney (can you tell I love Disney?). I also had a fantastic time at Old Seagrove Beach last summer with my in laws. Vacations are the best memories!

What is something you enjoy doing with your mom/daughter?

Everything with Mom (and sister) is fun. We’re funny together. Going to the beach, eating pizza on a quilt in the living room and watching Fixer Upper, planning vacations, making Christmas candy.

Daughter- how do you see your mom in yourself?

Almost every time I parent, I open my mouth and my mom comes out! I also get silly like she does. I see Mom in myself when I serve the Lord and teach my kids (biological, youth, or students) about Him. I also see my mom on the few times I actually work really hard to clean my house well. Ha! I also literally see my mom when I look in the mirror because my freckles remind me of her. She’s one of the few other adults I know with a face full of freckles…thanks Mom!

What inspires you?

Nothing in life is ever moving back towards the way things were, and there is so much good in striving to create a better, healthier, and more efficient future. Thinkers, creatives, and solution finders are truly inspiring in the aim to keep moving forward.

What are you learning in this season of life?

I’m learning to stop making life about the next “arrival points.” Life and your spiritual walk with God are more than being on the way to the next “destination”- both geographically and spiritually. God has been reminding me to be present right now and trust Him with both where we are today and where he’s leading for the future.

What are you currently reading/watching/listening to?

Lisa Bevere’s book “Without Rival.” I don’t sit still long enough to read, but I drive a lot so I am loving this via audiobook. So many moments in my car of replaying over and over certain notes or even chapters. It’s emotionally and spiritually challenging in the best way.

What’s your current favorite beauty product?

Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation. Seriously, it doesn’t move even in the longest, hottest days. Game changer.

Describe your perfect day?

A perfect day would be on vacation with my husband, exploring a new city and its hustle and bustle during the day then later walking the beach, soaking up sand and sea together.

What’s one of your favorite family memories?

Our crazy 2 week western road trip! It was insane to drive 26 hours from Louisiana to Phoenix to California, but it was certainly a trip to remember!

What is something you enjoy doing with your mom/daughter?

Shopping, trip planning, and traveling have always been our favorite things to do together!

Daughter- how do you see your mom in yourself?

As I’ve grown up and older, I’ve seen my mom in myself more and more as I look in the mirror! Ha! She’s gorgeous though, so that’s not a bad thing. Aside from that, I find the scriptures and phrases of life and courage instilled in me from her coming through in my life because of her dedication to the Lord. I’m so thankful for the lineage of faith passed down from her mother, to my mother, and now to us.
